A Guide to Levkarest

A twelve foot high stone wall surrounds the city of Levkarest in Borca.  It is a city built onto the side of a hill as well as partially in the valley of another.  The city rises up to the middle then more as one goes northeast.  A small valley forms between two northeastern ridges.  The city also starts to rise as one goes southwest.  The northwest slopes down but not as much as the southeast and east, which is the largest slope of the city as well as the most poor.  The western most section of the city slopes downward away from the main body of the city.

The north and northeastern portion of the city is where the noble and more wealthy residents of city live, with of course, the exception of the Merchants Square.

The middle, eastern, south, and southeastern sections of the city are populated by the masses of the poor.  As one travels upward in the city, so does the apparent living standard.

Aughen'eesis Keep:  (New name is Aughen'eesis Keep.  Old name was Chateau D'Amoureux.)Formerly known as Chateau D'Amoureux, this inner walled section of the city now holds a noble family from Gundarak acting as permanent ambassadors of the country.  The castle used to house some of the lesser nobles of the Boritsi family.  It has stables as well as a guest house.  The castle was originally built for military defense of the city, however now it is purely residential.  All of the open area is decorated by a beautifully vast and elaborate garden.

Aspen Inn:  Is a nicely built large middle class inn.  It received it's name from it's immense murals of aspen tree landscapes painted on it's many walls.  The Inn is triangular in shape because of it's location.

The Laughing Pig:  A tavern that is large and lower class.  Frequented by workers.  A place where things happen.  Usually fights or threats, etc.

Mava's Bistro:  An upper middle class small restaurant.  Very artistic and ritzy.

The Sisters of Mercy Hospice:  A large single story building.  An order of women run the establishment, giving care to the sick and needy.

Green Briar Boarding House:  A large four story old house.  Lower class.

Camber Bathhouse:  A middle/lower class bathhouse.

Lilies and Lace:  A brothel that is more established and middle class.

The Dancing Boar:  A lower class yet homely inn.

Migorn's Woodworks:  A carpenter.

Abbey of the Brothers of the Seed:  An open church where the main building is a single story long, rectangular looking building.  There is a low wall separating the churchyards from the rest of the city.  It is very much a large garden.  Very open to the public.

Church of Saint Ithric:  A very formal and reclusive church.  Large and foreboding.  The building takes up the entire plot of land.  An iron fence toped with spikes separates itself from the masses.  Only open to the public during sermons etc.

The Weeping Willows Sanitarium:  A large stone building.  Looks like several squares put together at different intervals so as to NOT match.  Forming a square like half arch, so to speak, when seen through a birds eye view.  Four stories tall.  There is a high wall surrounding the building.

The Blue Nun:  A lower class tavern.

West Gate:  The larger of the two gatehouses of Levkarest.  In this gatehouse are the main prison holding cells and courthouse.

East Gate:  The smaller of the two gatehouses.  This one is has only a couple of cells for holding prisoners.

Torrid's End Winery and Cellars:  A well established commercial wine cellar.

Bawders Bathhouse:  A lower class bathhouse.

Calenstar's Mezzanine:  A little nook of a rouges place.  There is no sign above the small door leading up a small stair.  This place specializes in all things illegal and stolen.  A fence so to speak.

Garbles Gander:  A small shop that sells odds and ends.  The only way to get to this shop is through a series of alleyways.  Owned by a thin hunched old man with white hair that is balding.

Bedwidgery Bathhouse:  An upper middle class bathhouse.

Azealeas St. Bathhouse:  A lower class bathhouse.

A Taste of Kartakass:  A lower class restaurant specializing in ethnic Kartakan style foods.  The theme of the restaurant is everything Kartakan.

The Geirstiein Rathskeller:  A beer hall located below street level.

(Street) Lords Row:  Visiting wealthy and affluent individuals as well as families usually stay in one of the many large and well built houses on this street.

(Streets) Terrace and Merlot St.:  Wealthier residents of Levkarest stay in these marvelous homes that overlook the city.

(Streets) The Vein and West Camber St.:  These two streets hold the most profitable businesses.  They are obviously the most widely used streets in all of Levkarest.

(Street) Chippies Lane:  A small street with a multitude of brothels.

(Street) Channel St.:  Many open, small parks and such can be found following along the reservoir and surrounding the aqueducts.

(Streets) Blue Blood Ave., Paramour Ave., The Vein, and The Watchers Way:  These streets form a square like are where upper middle class merchants tend to migrate to.  This being only the western end of Blue Blood Ave. and Vein St.  This combination of streets is commonly referred to as "The Merchants Square".
